Bus services across North Cumbria are set to benefit from a range of improvements as Stagecoach introduces its Summer 2026 timetable on Monday 23 March, enhancing connections to and across the Lake District.

The seasonal network is designed to support residents, workers and visitors travelling throughout the national park, with strengthened frequencies, improved reliability and better integration between key routes.

A major enhancement for summer 2026 is the expansion of service 509, which will now operate daily, providing a direct connection between Keswick and Ullswater throughout the week. The route will also link Penrith and Pooley Bridge via Rheged and Dalemain, improving access across the northern Lake District.

The popular 555 service between Keswick, Kendal and Lancaster will also see increased frequency, with buses operating every 30 minutes between Kendal and Keswick for much of the day from Monday to Saturday.

Additional improvements across North Cumbria include:
UB1 / UB2 Ullswater Hopper services return, including a new UB2 service increasing frequency between Aira Force and Pooley Bridge and extending to Lowther Castle
553 / 554 Carlisle – Keswick summer timetable begins, with more services via Caldbeck and additional daily journeys
