IHG Hotels & Resorts’ new research has revealed that 49% of fans rate the Guinness Men’s Six Nations (M6N) as an experience that they are willing to travel the world for.
The research shows that fans are more willing to travel the world for the M6N than they are for events like Wimbledon and the Monaco Grand Prix, with only the FIFA World Cup final ranking higher amongst fans.
For 88% of fans involved in the study, the weekend is as important as the match itself, with sampling the local cuisine (56%) and visiting historic landmarks (49%) also being influential reasons for travelling fans.
To help fans negotiate these rituals, IHG have launched Fancierge which will give fans a “bespoke experience service designed to bring the spirit of the championships to life throughout 2026”.
IHG, the official hotel partner of the Guinness Men’s and Women’s Six Nations Championships, has also named England legend and The Traitors star Joe Marler as their first-ever ‘Fancierge’ ahead of the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Six Nations Championships.
Marler has been testing experiences in all 6 nations involved in the championships to allow IHG to deliver “authentic experiences that transform every trip into a weekend of rugby-inspired rituals”. ”.
These experiences will allow fans to take in the atmosphere in both the stadium and its local surroundings as they look to join their fellow fans in the ‘passion and excitement’ of the Six Nations fixtures.
Six experiences are currently available, one in each of the six nations, for the Men’s Championships, with details on how to sign up for Fancierge experiences during the Women’s Championship coming soon.
