I have surely discovered the best band that you could ever want to see on a Friday night. If you finish work for the week, want to let your hair down and get a wiggle on, then Split Dogs are the band to rock your world. After upbeat, empowering and powerful support from Helle and Wench, the Split Dogs came roaring out onto the stage like rottweilers chasing raw meat. I mean, their opening song is called Tear Down The House and they proceed to do just that with a storming, foot-stomping, hip-wiggling, riff-tastic performance that you simply get swept up in, leaving you with a great big grin. You can’t want much more than that for a Friday night out.

This is a band that have clearly been in lots of other bands, working their way up to pulling together the current tight lineup, and they are also clearly steeped in rock and roll and punk influences. I liked the fact that you could trace some of the underlying riffs right back to the early pioneers of rock and roll and then throw in bits of AC/DC, The Distillers, Rocket From the Crypt, Chubby and The Gang and many others to get Split Dogs. A visceral in-your-face four-piece that makes you think of motorbikes, leather, denim and the buzz of a tattoo gun.

The songs came thick and fast, featuring many from last year's Here to Destroy album, the intensity and fun never wavering across the performance. If I could pick one track that for me encapsulates all that Split Dogs are about, then it would be Monster Truck which sounded brilliant cranked up to the nines. Wherever Spilt Dogs are going, they are going to get there fast, having raucous fun along the way.

Grab onto their coattails and enjoy the ride.
