Bolton Wanderers 1-2 Luton Town: Match Report

A spirited Bolton display came with no reward as Luton Town crept over the line to reach the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

It was a flying start for the Wanderers as Dion Charles linked up well with Victor Adeboyejo as the latter chopped back and played in Charles, who finished with a figure to hand Bolton the lead.

Within a few minutes, the Premier League team capitalized on a errant Bolton touch in the middle of the field to draw level. The ball eventually fell to Tahith Chong, who drilled home the leveller.

The game settled into a steady pace, with both sides looking to go for the kill and the hosts looking potent and dangerous in their attacks.

Luton came close to taking the lead as Jamie Clark rattled the woodwork via a fearsome effort, with Nathan Baxter collecting a rebound.

Bolton continued to valiantly plug away at the Premier League, but it eventually counted for nothing as Luton retook the lead.

Carlton Morris broke into the box and spotted the advancing Chieo Ogbene, with Luton number seven dispatching from point blank range to give the Hatters the advantage.

Bolton couldn’t find a way back into the tie but can come out of the game with high credibility, as a brave display against a higher-up opposition can stand them in good stead ahead of their League One promotion battle.
