Acclaimed British artist Linder has unveiled Sirona, her first permanent public artwork and first mosaic, at London Zoo.

Commissioned as part of ZSL's 200th anniversary celebrations and produced in partnership with Contemporary Art Society Consultancy (CASC), the monumental 53ft (16m) mosaic honours pioneering zoologist Joan Beauchamp Procter, first female curator of reptiles at ZSL and one of the most influential reptile experts of the 20th century.

Constructed from approximately one million reclaimed marble pieces, Sirona depicts an Ethiopian mountain adder – an Endangered species cared for at London Zoo today.

The latest milestone in ZSL’s 200th anniversary year celebrations, for the unveiling, Linder was joined by women working across veterinary science, conservation, reptile care and education at ZSL, celebrating Joan Procter's enduring legacy and the generations she continues to inspire.

For two centuries, ZSL has been at the forefront of wildlife conservation, working around the world to restore habitats, protect species and inspire the next generation of animal advocates. Find out more at www.londonzoo.org/sirona
